Terrot customers confirm ideal choice of exhibits for the Chinese market
The Shanghaitex held from June 3 to 7, 2005 was among China’s most successful textile machinery fairs. With almost 100 participants, a sizeable proportion of exhibitors at the fair were representing Germany, reflecting the ever growing importance of the Chinese market. Once again, Terrot Strickmaschinen GmbH was highly gratified by customer response to its exhibits and by a number of substantial purchase orders concluded over the duration of the show. One underlying factor behind this successful outcome is the company’s consistent alignment of its innovative machine technology in line with the needs of the Chinese market.
Focal attractions at the Terrot stand, which was extremely well attended over the whole of the show, were two special exhibits

- UCC548, 34“, E22 in a C5 frame
The super-fine gauge machine type S296 met with a highly enthusiastic and positive response from fair-goers. Following market and fashion trends for lighter-weight, more elastic knit goods, there is an unmistakable move towards fine knitted fabrics. With its gauge E46 machine, Terrot is highlighting its innovative drive and technical expertise with top-class production technology for the manufacture of ultra-fine, exclusive knitted fabric, which won particular acclaim at the show for its extremely high bi-elasticity. This special characteristic of the fabric is achieved by plating fine elastane threads at each feeder of the machine. Enhanced Terrot open-width technology for cutting and opening out the fabric tube guarantees absolutely crease-free and curl-free production of circular knitted fabric.
With the emphasis firmly on flexibility and universal application in the production of different circular knitted fabric constructions, electronically controlled Terrot circular knitting machine Type UCC548 met with lively interest with customers and fair-goers. A variety of different fabric types and knitted construction combinations can be manufactured on a single circular knitting machine model using a range of optional conversion kits:
- Padded quilting effects with weft yarn feeders
- Mesh effects with special exchangeable cam parts
- Spacer fabrics with add-on components
- Jacquard fabrics (synchronous timing) with elastane plating
- 3-height plush through the use of pin needle technology
Electronically controlled double jersey circular knitting machine UCC548 with facility for the production of 3-height plush loops at every one of the machine’s 54 feeders made a big impression at the show with its extreme production output. Instead of using customary latch needles, so-called pin needles are inserted in the circular knitting machine’s cylinder. The specially shaped design of the needles combined with the electronic needle selection of the UCC548 allows the production of
- 1.5 mm loop heights in the tuck position and
- 3.0 mm look heights in the knit position
